Same Shit, Different Day

It's been a while since my last entry, however a whole lot hasn't changed. I Spent 2 -3 weeks non-stop devoting all my spare time into photography on the side and was motivated for a while. I believe with work and going home to work, I got burned out and now I need a little more inspiration again.

On a different topic, my sister's boyfriend got in a car accident last night while he was on his way home from work. I bought a new car in August and gave my sister my old car instead of putting it up for sale because she was doing her work-term this semester and really needed a way of getting around. The car wasn't hurt and in perfect running condition, although it's wrote off now. Todd (her boyfriend) is fine but as you can imagine is shook up and I can't blame him. Poor fellow...I hope it all works out. It was a head on collision and the front windshield got smashed along with the passenger window and the entire front of the car. The two air bags popped out....Thank God for that.

Everyone ready for Christmas or what? I'm not, but I'm a last minute person. I purchased a few Christmas gifts last month while I attended a work conference in Myrtle Beach, SC. Good shopping down there but didn't have a lot of leisure time. All you can expect when it's a business trip right? I did enjoy the weather though, although I'm sure my American customers thought I was a crazy Canadian when I didn't take a coat or a sweater with me to the reception dinner out on the beach one nite. I thought it was really warm sure :) I guess what's warm to me is not so warm to them. It was good seeing my customers though. Some I met again and some for the first time. Made me realize and appreciate how much I do enjoy my job. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that it doesn't frustrate me to see the company make decisions I don't 100% agree with but we just have to sit back and accept it sometimes. It's not like we all live in the perfect world where we would never want to change a thing right? Sometimes we just have to go with the flow. Same shit, different day....Until we decide to take a hold of life and stop being so afraid of the comfortable routine and do something for a change.

A Girls Weekend

This coming weekend the girls are heading to St.John's for the weekend. All of us are taking this coming Friday afternoon off and driving into town to get an early start on the fun. We all decided that we would stay in a hotel for the weekend so we can all stay together. I'm looking forward to a girls weekend. We all have tickets to the Molson Canadian Rock Star concert in Mt.Pearl Saturday night. http://www.991hitsfm.com/news.asp?ID=48 I guess we'll hit George Street afterwards.

A co-worker of mine has his stag party this coming weekend. His best man planned it for this weekend, which falls on Saturday, September 17th. The Molson Canadian ticket was given to my boyfriend, Terry from his mother and we were gonna go. So, he's gonna go with the boyz for da weekend to help them all celebrate. I'm gonna take the ticket and bring along one of the girls to the concert. ( I believe all the boyz are mad at us girls for heading to town the same weekend, but it's not our fault they decide to have a stag party on this weekend right? ) They are just worried were gonna run into them and catch them all being bad men. That's what I think anyway. No worries there though, we'll be out having too much fun of our own. They can go find some other girls to hang with, which I'm sure they already have planned since it is a stag party and all. :)

Were all heading out in the one car and there are 5 of us. It will be pretty crammed but will make for a good fun road trip, I'm sure. ( ok, I just went to dictionary.com to make sure crammed was a word, which reminds me of a discussion I had with Mr. Murray last nite. ) I was suppose to go to the Y with my friend Kat, and she called Terry looking for me. I was on the phone and told her, ' I'd go but my stomach feels a little quamish.' Terry pipes up to correct me and says ' it's squeamish.' I argued with him anyway and told me quamish was correct and to look it up. We went to my place, cooked supper and looked up the word:

qua·mish ( P ) Pronunciation Key (kwämsh)adj. - Sick in the stomach; nauseated.

I guess I taught him a new word last nite. That don't happen very often. Usually he's the one who uses the BIG words. I thought I would mention this for for two reasons:

1) I like that I was right and Terry was wrong ( I admit he's right a lot ok...and other times, I let him think he's right :)

2) If your reading this and criticizing my grammar then you need to be reading Terry's blog :) or someone other than mine. I started this blog because a few friends have and I enjoy it now that I have. A lot of it is just rambling about me and things happening in my life and a blog, not a newspaper column.

Busy Times

So, the Summer as come to an end but the partying haven't. I'm glad about that. Still lots of fun times to look forward to this month. Pearl Jam concert is coming up the end of the month. http://www.pearljam.com/ and a bachelorette party and a trip to St.John's with the girlies. I've been told I can't drive because I'm too slow. Can you imagine that? Then again, I was told by Walshie who has all kinds of tickets coming out of her ass :) http://www.itsjustmewalshie.blogspot.com/ Crystal just took a job here in Grand Falls-Windsor and moved in with her boyfriend, who we all call, 'Cor'. The both of them together is like going to a buddywasisname concert which is scheduled for here in town in November. I'll have to try and make it to that for sure.

Actually, I should slow down and take one day at a time. I am writing this blog entry when I suddenly feel guilty for having so many fun times. I just arrived back from a week's vacation in Orlando, Florida with my mom and sister and we called home to let our family know we made it back home safe and sound when we got the shocking news that a young girl who was a class mate of my sisters had died in a car crash at the age of 18 . She had a full life ahead of her and too young to die. Her and two of her other friends were on their way to a nearby town when the driver hit the loose gravel, lost control of the car and smashed into a cliff. One young girl survived but lost her two close friends. The entire town, only a small community is in a state of shock. The two factors involved in the cause of the accident were speeding and driving inexperience. I attended the funeral the day I arrived back from my Florida trip and it was heart wrenching. Funerals are never easy but sitting there and hearing stories told of a young girl who didn't experience a lot that the world can offer brought sadness. Her grandfather is 81 years old and lost his wife a year or so ago. He is an older man and not really educated. He asked the pastor if he would write down some things he would like to say about his granddaughter, 'Natasha.' The pastor wrote those words down on paper word for word and told it to all. It appears she was a granddaughter who moved in with her grandfather when her grandmother passed on to help him and to take care of him. She was a friend of my sisters and growing up she didn't have much at all. The things we always take for granted was a treasure for her I suppose. She cooked her grandfather supper, cleaned his house, ran errands for him to the store, and made him a lunch every night at 9 o'clock and sat down with him. The grandfather's words, ' She took care of a lonely old man and she didn't know, but I intended on paying for her education.' A young girl who went with her friend for a drive to a different town to spend a Summer night. Speeding, but I'm sure it's something we haven't done ourselves. A life that ended in tragedy. A hard thing to happen but will we learn anything from it? Maybe young people will slow down. A few things to be learned here...I know I've learned a few any. Appreciate each day we have here on earth because we can be gone tomorrow. It's so easy to take life for granted and those we love. This young girl left her grandfather behind but he remembers all good. To him, his granddaughter was an angel from God who helped him. From the words spoken of her, I believe it. Now days, we are all in a rush, don't appreciate the things we have. This girl didn't have much, but it don't seem like she minded. I say we treat everyone the way we want to be treated and to treat them as if it were the last time we were to see them. If someone you knew was going away and you didn't think you'd see them anymore, how would you be? We take those we love for granted and should be like that all the time.

I said at the funeral that I was going to try and be a better person and I start this blog entry with all of the fun I have to look forward to. I almost took life for granted. I think I'll just live for today. One day at a time.
